I think that was the point.
Spontaneous suicide is the most dangerous, and often the more successful (statistically speaking). That’s why so much of the mental health resources are dedicated to putting in as many obstacles as possible; like higher barriers on bridges. The simple act of having to climb up over dramatically increases survival rates.
When someone is thinking and planning, they’re in a place that can be difficult to determine. But post-planning, when a person has really made up their mind and they think the moment is coming, [it’s believed] a more serious and imminent danger is at hand.
Though I’m not sure what research reports that, it’s cited everywhere. In my experience, it didn’t matter where in the process you were; if you had a plan the flag was red enough and they start detaining you against your will, or not releasing you.
I’ve never been “calm and happy” anytime near the planning stage.
But hey, to each his own. :)
[sending virtual hugs]
Even myself.
Biggest red flag is when a suicidal person is all calm and happy all of the sudden.
That means the planning is complete and they have come to terms with the act they’re about to do.
There’s also a line between ‘contemplation’ and ‘attempting,’ which I’d call ‘planning’. Unless there’s something really haywire, IME, it’s almost never a spontaneous act. That planning stage can act as a warning.
Be that as it may, it’s better to have the counter-productive “last thought of” instead of “last attempted”. See? Always a silver lining!

And so releatable >_<
It’s okay Fluttershy. We all have rainy days. But it can’t rain all the time.
