AJ Aficianado is Correct. The Khmer and Vietnamese languages are related, it’s true. But that doesn’t make the two countries interchangeable.
You’re thinking of Cambodia. Communist Vietnam actually put an end to the genocide being committed by the Khmer Rouge against her own people and Vietnamese people living on the border between both countries after an invasion of Cambodia in 1978.
