Discord slunk past the guards into the castle. It took some convincing, but he was able to convince them that he was there to speak with with Princess Luna. After all, she had called for his presence for weeks now, but he refused to answer. He wasnt here for her, he was here for a specific book that was locked up in the castles library. Many restless nights had lead him to this book. He had been studying diligently all this time, tryintwg to find a way that would keep his dear Fluttershy with him, forever. He even spent the day alongside Princess Twilight. Her obnoxious blabbering about countless facts and spewing of pointless knowledge had finally paid off as she was able to name the book he needed. Of course, he could just use his magic to keep Fluttershy immortal, but he had larger plans, plans that required a boost of extreme magic. This book supposedly contained a spell that could give Discord the ability to act out his plan. As he hurried towards the library, he looked about anxiously as he hoped not to be spotted.   Coming to the library doors, he was faced with yet another set of guards. He let out a long dramatized sigh and looked down at the two pathetic guards. He could easily dispose of them with magic, but he had vowed to Fluttershy to never use magic on unwilling ponies.   "Im here to see Princess Luna, is she in the library?" Discord asked.   "No, she is in her room," the guard responded.   "And how are you so sure of this? Just because she has not physically walked this way does not mean she is not inside the library," Discord said with an upturned snout.   The two guards looked at one another, unsure of what to say. The pony who spoke looked back to Discord and simply nodded his head and stepped aside to let Discord in. The draconequus walked past and shut the door behind him.   "Bone heads," the draconequus chuckled. He began this search through the towering bookshelves. He scrambled about till he found the section he figured the book may be resting. Pulling out some of the book half-way, he checked the covers and with each pass, he grew more and more irritated. Growling, he just began to toss some of the books onto the ground in his search.   After what seemed ages, Discord nearly was going to burn the entire library to the ground when he grasped the book firmly in his claw. "Finally!" he practically screamed.   "So, you finally show your face ," a voice echoed behind him.   Snapping to attention, Discord turned to see the last pony he wanted to see. Princess Luna.   "Oh its you.." he sighed, "what could you possibly want". The draconequss curled his tail and with a snap of his claws, hid the book and crossed his arms in protest towards Luna.   "I have been summoning you for weeks! And yet you still protest your Queens summon?” Luna hissed.
 
“Queen? Last time I checked, you were still just a little baby princess,” Discord mocked.
 
This made the feathers rise on Lunas chest as she bared her fangs, her wings raising slightly as to intimidate the draconequss. This display made Discord chuckle.   "Nevermind your foolishness, I must speak with you now!" Luna commanded. She turned and expected Discord to follow. Discord knew very well that there was no getting out of this now. Luna would have the guards on him in seconds and magic or not, it would be too much for one draconequss to handle. So, he reluctantly followed after her and drug his tail behind him.   Soon the two came to Lunas room, the alicorn opening the door and directing Discord to go inside. He lazily entered the room and Luna came in behind him, nearly slamming the door in a hurry. Discord couldnt possibly imagine what could be so important that the princess would have annoyed him for weeks to come speak with her.
 
Luna walked over to the bed and hung her head for a moment. She let out a sigh and stood up straight again and used her magic to gently open a tightly wrapped blanket. Discord was curious as to what the Princess was shielding at the moment and stepped around to look. It was then that he understood what was so important. His eyes went wide, his law nearly sank open as he saw the precious egg resting on the bed.
 
“This… this is impossible!” he protested, sounding breathless as he sat on the opposite side of the bed.
 
“Im afraid it is…” Luna said, a tinge of sadness in her voice as she stared at the egg.
 
There was no mistaking it. This was a draconequss egg. Discord leaned forward and drew in a deep breath and drew in the scent that surrounded the egg. He bared his teeth and growled. “What is this, this cruel joke?!”
 
Luna looked at him surprised and slammed her hoof loudly onto the floor. “This is your doing! This is as much as your child as it is mine! This… this is our mistake…”
 
Discord gripped the sheets of Luna`s bed and snarled at the egg before him. He closed his eyes and shook his head at the memory.

It was a strange circumstance, something completely unexpected. Fluttershy had been away on a safari with Zecora. The zebra had invited Fluttershy to visit her homeland with her to see the creatures that dwell there. It took some convincing, but Discord had finally gotten Fluttershy to accept the offer. She had just laid the egg of their first child and Fluttershy was nervous to leave, but Discord knew itd be better if she was up and about and not cooped up in the cottage. Discord was incredibly lonely, left alone to care for their newly laid egg. He had bundled the precious egg and had it sitting in a warm nest. Staring at the nestled egg, there was suddenly a bump at the door and Discord went down to answer. Surprisingly, it was Princess Luna! “Luna? What are you doing here?” Discord questioned. The alicorn seemed to sway as she stood and the smell of liquor was heavy on her coat.
 
“Fluttershy?” Luna called out?
 
“Luna, Fluttershy is out on a trip, and why would you need to see her anyways?” Discord questioned quiet rudely.
 
The alicorn suddenly stumbled into his arms and Discord caught her. “Come now princess, this is no way to show up to a friends home,” the draconequss sighed. He brought Luna in and rested her on the couch. Peeking into the bedroom, Discord made sure the egg was okay before returning to the living room. Luna sat quietly on the couch and almost seemed like a statue with how perfectly still she was sitting. “Princess Luna?” Discord called. He couldnt tell if she had even heard him but before he could speak again, the mare leaned forward suddenly and kissed him. This made the draconequss jump and stumble backwards in surprise.
 
“What in Equestria are you doing?!” Discord shouted.
 
Luna quietly approached and looked up at him with clouded eyes. “Arent you lonely? Without her here..” Luna asked, “Im lonely too…”
 
Discord looked at her confused but his interest was peaking at what she may have been suggesting. Something in Discord screamed for him to stop, but the chaos inside him was screaming for mischief.
 
“I can help you not be so lonely,” Discord chuckled.  

 
“It was a mistake to let you in… it was a mistake for me to be so selfish!” Discord roared.
 
This startled Luna, the volume of the draconequss` voice nearly shook the room. She looked to him anxiously and to the egg. It seemed to quiver in fear, but perhaps it was her who was shaking. She looked up and her eyes went wide as Discord lifted his clawed hand and she knew what he was planning to do.
 
“No!” Luna cried out and sparked her magic.
 
Discord snapped to look at her. He looked deranged. His crazy, tired eyes and bared fangs would be enough to send any pony running, but not her.
 
“I will not let you hurt this egg! The child inside is innocent! It does not deserve to die!!” Luna protested.
 
Discord snarled and stared right through Luna. His claw quivered but it slowly lowered, the aura of his magic fading as he slumped into submission. He simply stood up and was beginning towards the door.
 
“Where are you going? What do we do now!” Luna cried out.
 
“I dont know, I dont care… Find that.. thing.. someone else to care for it. I want it nowhere near me, nor Fluttershy. She can never, ever know! Take it far away, to someone who can care for it. I will not have the people of this kingdom knowing that this is your child and mine!” Discord growled. And with that, he was gone.
 
Luna lowered her head and climbed into her bed. Laying next to the egg, she placed a gentle hoof on the motionless figure. Closing her eyes, she breathed in slowly and out calmly. She could hear it. The child was growing quickly and Luna could hear their dreams now. It was mostly nothingness, sometimes she could hear voices in the childs head as it dreamed. “You will be safe, and I know now who to ask”.

So, Discord and Luna had an affair and things were not good  
Luna couldnt get Discord to talk to her about what to do and was left to make the decision alone  
She decided the best place to take the child was to someone she knew had experience with very strong children, Cadence
