Exactly, drill a hole on each end of the broken peg deep enough for an appropriately sized metal wire. Insert/glue said wire to one part, let dry, and attach/glue the other piece. Make sure the glue doesn’t get into the moving parts. Should work, I’ve done similar stuff myself.
