I don’t believe that G5 will have the same charm G4 has. None of the other past gens pre-G4 were as complex and well thought of, at least from what I experienced. Like, what else will G5 do differently from G4? My biggest theory in mind is that G5 will return to it’s cutesy style and plot, like G1, 2, and 3, just so things calm down after a decade of insane adventures.

It wont be forgotten IMO.G4 is the first Gen of MLP that made characters that sticked to people consciousness. The mane 6 are basically MLP own Optimus Prime now.  
Now “kicking G4 out of popularity” is not out of question since you know in general people favor the bright shiny new thing to the old finished series but i think recreating the proverbial perfect maelstrom that created G4 is not something that happen just because you wish it. It’s the unknown,the it factor,the je ne sais quoi that is going to be very hard to replicate and to include in G5 without going full carbon copy.In other words,G4 is going to be one fucking hell of an hard act to follow

You know what scares me the most? I’m worried that G5 will kick out G4 out of popularity. In other words, G4 will be immediately forgotten if G5 takes over. I am willing to accept change as long as the previous isn’t. And no, I am not saying put G4 characters into the new one, since everything about them is finished.

Yes, exactly. And that’s my point, the precedent have already being set and I’d rather have characters with new personalities and character arcs than a copy of Faust m6 (even if they have the same names, it’s a new Gen so even tho some characters names and places will remain the same:ie maybe the G5 still happen in a country named Equestrian where a pony named Pinkie live, it’ll be an entirely new continuity  
Come on, if one pay attention to the franchise history, you know they change their universe/continuity at each generations. “Loose reskins” is going to happen in G5 too

They are not the same characters, though. Just loose reskins. Rainbow Dash used to be Rarity of previous generation, but Faust was told her OC self-insert is no good, so she just inserted said OC personality dumping old Dash. AJ from silly pony song has nothing to do with new one. Twilight Sparkle doesn’t even look (or act) like old Twilight. Ditto with Spike. Scoots and Sweetie weren’t kids, but peers and full fledged protagonists. Etc, etc…

??? I hope not, i fell like i’m the only sane man here, character named after previous pony gen is nothing new . Applejack and Spike have been here since G1. Pinkie Pie,Rainbow Dash,Cheerilee,Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle came from G3

“All new cast” – It only says “new cast” and I think people are reading too much into it. A “new cast” could still be based on/reinterpretations of G4 characters (just as G4 did with G3). I’m perfectly fine with either though.
 
“Bridging the gap between G4 and G5” – That’s the first time I hear that particular rumour. AFAIK, the original plan was to end G4 with a second movie in 2019 and then kick off G5 with another movie in 2020. The second G4 movie was dropped and we got Rainbow Roadtrip instead. The G5 movie then got pushed to fall 2021 (and thus it seems that Pony Life was made to fill the gap).

Honestly, though this surprising on Hasbro’s part. G4 has been the most successful the My Little Pony IP has ever been. You’d think they would they’d stick as close to it as possible for awile and milk these characters dry while completely butchering what drew everyone in to begin with. You know, like Pony Life. But good on them for choosing to properly start G5 with new things.

You might wanna avoid shows like Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, Transformers, and Star Trek too if change is what terrifies you.

I for one am glad to hear this. I’m still worried about what G5’s going to be like and worried Hasbro learned little if anything from G4’s success, but at least this could mean there’s a chance they aren’t going to try and survive off of G4’s credit for the new series.
 
I’m just happy to see them finally give the Mane 6 a rest. I wasn’t terribly interested in watching them reshuffle their personalities and start from zero again.

So long as Hasbro gives majority creative freedom to a good team of artists like they did with Gen 4, they’ll likely have another good cartoon, new cast or no. The only goal we need is to not have a cartoon primarily lead by corporate direction. Corporate-led programming is soulless, because suits think in terms of trends and demographics, not storytelling.
 
After a decade of unprecedented horse success, I’d hope Hasbro knows better than to stray from the winning formula, now, but we’ll see. Corporates have fucked up things for less.
