As someone who is not a Doctor Who fan, but has many friends who are, and have had to listen to their discussions, especially after the latest doctor came out, this picture suddenly clarifies some questions that I have had.
I prefer the idea that when Thorax transformed them into skittles, they gain the ability to freely reproduce, like their starving state prevented all but the queen to conserve energy.
Actually, I have a running theory that the only Changeling capable of bearing children is either a Queen or a Changeling Princess. They can do this to add to their deceptive qualities.

That’s what I’m thinking. I also think that if they disguise as the other sex, they’re “infertile” until they change into the sex they are.
Perhaps changelings have a gender identity regardles of who or what they’re disguised at any current moment.
For example, if Thorax changes to Rarity, he’d still has his male Thorax personality.

I dunno. I guess the Royal Changelings probably would be by default, and the drones could default to not having anything down there, but change it to fit to their Royal, depending on if said Royal wants to be King or Queen. However, the Changedlings, being more pony-like and thus focusing on individuality, would probably change to suit whatever they felt more comfortable as.

As I said, she’s a shapeshifter, so she can be whatever she wants, including a hermaphrodite.

Makes sense, if you’ve seen any recent-ish documentaries about hyenas.
In that panel Yena the Hyena was told that she was indeed a girl(furigana: Female) and was shocked to hear that since she thought she was a boy(furigana: Male). Her family didn’t mind she was boyish but glad she found out she was a girl but in the end she decided to be(identify as) a man(furigana: Male).
