“Nope! I’m fine. If my daddy says I should stay in here than I’ll stay.” River says, and then pauses for a second. “And Mr. Peacock agrees with me.”
“How long have you been in there? Where is your father or that doctor?” Mulberry says, a little concerned.
“The doctor is probably in the infirmary somewhere.” the filly says. “My dad is probably in his office. He has the big one in the back. He’s the mayor.”
“Oh?” Mulberry says, raising an eyebrow, “A very important pony then.”
“Yeah! Well, I mean except that he’s a gryphon.” She says tittering, “I’m adopted, you see!”
“Oh, uh, yes. I see.” the mare says, unsure of how to respond to the bland happiness of the filly’s last line. The mare is starting to feel a little awkward.
