Firewood and Rust act like Thistle left them, when in reality it was her father who sent her away.
 
To be fair I can’t really blame Fireweed for believing Rust Wing. They grew up together and he was basically a brother to him. Assuming Rust wasn’t kept in line by his father and didn’t act like a total jerk it’s understandable that Fireweed takes Rust Wing’s side and believes (or wants to believe) his claim about Lullaby.

Kinda looks like Fireweed is a case of Revenge Before Reason. Wanting to avenge his Pa no matter how irrational it might become. The fact the he calls Tempest a monster, yet is willing to overlook Rust Wings antics just further emphasises this.  
Rust Wing on the other hoof just wants the farm to make porfit and he’s willing to do everything to make it happen. Be it supporting Fireweed in his revenge, to get him back to work, or taking in Lullaby in exeption of a reward for it.  
A really dangerous combination.
