Correct. She only lost herself and attacked when she became convince Starlight was in town and near her foal enough to pose a threat. Failing that, while it saddens her that Starlight is out there not being a good pony, she doesn’t worry enough to need to track her down.

@N2MP
Meh I am pretty sure if Twilight and all the elements of harmony banded together and came up with a logical plan to capture Starlight they could. Twilight is a literal genius and Starlight admits she had more formal training so I firmly believe she could capture her if she wanted but I am betting her mentality is that if she isn’t ruining anypony’s life and stays away from ponyville and her child then its all good which is at the very least FAIR.

Twilight does have a kingdom to run and so chasing Starlight would waste time and resources.
N2MP

@blacksunset
There is still a small degree of tolerance there. She warns Starlight to leave town, seemingly saying that if she left Twilight wouldn’t follow. I guess because Starlight hasn’t caused trouble again until that moment. If Starlight hadn’t acted so smug and provoked her a battle probably wouldn’t have happened.

Well, it’s also mentioned that no one has been able to catch her, so she’s just monitored. So it’s less that they’re okay with Starlight being free and more that she’s just very slippery.

@N2MP
My rational for that is that was when Twilight was young and still a naïve pony. in this context shes grown up, an adult, has a daughter, lost an eye because of starlight and seems pretty regretful that she didn’t finish Starlight back when she had the chance too. I mean even Goku knew that after a point only so much mercy could be shown and he knows that’s the case with Freiza any time he shows up to start shit. Twilight made it clear in this context she was ready to tear Starlight a new asshole and had she kept letting her magic power rise? That is very likely what would have happened because like I have always said Twilight, Celestia, Luna, Cadence; all the alicorns are stupidly broken in terms of raw physical and magical power. That’s a well established fact and Twilight has shown that power scares her because she doesn’t know how responsible she would be with it.

All in all I am not saying Starlight is ENTIRELY wrong here…just mostly wrong. Twilight likes to and wants to see the best in pony’s. to see them make friends and progress well in life and it seems to me at every turn Starlight just decided to spit and stomp on Twilight’s attempt to make bridges because that’s just what she does.

I mean for fucks sake Luna tried to take over equestria TWICE and she was forgiven and had a chance to make friends and yes that was because she wanted to but also kinda because Twilight and the other used their magic to almost force her into submission. Starlight clearly wanted to be dealt with more harshly so I guess what I am saying is Twi just needs to learn there is a time for compassion and a time for combat.

@blacksunset
Of course Celestia didn’t WANT to seal her sister away. The point was that she was willing to do what was necessary to ensure peace, not letting personal feelings stop her. Twilight doesn’t seem to have that same mental fortitude. She’s kinda like the Goku of MLP, always giving the antagonists and villains another chance, and the world just isn’t that convenient that every baddie is actually going to genuinely reform. Just like Frieza immediately tried to shoot Goku in the back twice when he was shown mercy, the moment Starlight found a strong source of power she went right back to her old ways to try to kill Twilight.

That’s basically what Starlight is calling her out on. She SHOULD be better, but she isn’t. Starlight is being vain in acting so superior to Twilight, but Twilight’s thinking is just as flawed. I mean, she’d try to kill Starlight for going near her child, but not for the good of Equestria when she had the opportunity? Something is off there.

Honestly I don’t see the problem with this Starlight being limited to philosophical. She’s a bit of a sociopath, an admitted murderer, and seems to resent Twilight for deposing her. I think the mistake this universe’s Twilight made was in not taking Starlight under her wing and teaching her how not to be… you know… evil.

Consequently this Starlight has become obsessed with obtaining enough power to overthrow Twilight while also being able to deal with the constant threats to the peace. Starlight seems to be ignoring the fact that Twilight, while powerful, is most so because of her friends.

Eventually, entirely of her own volition, she befriends Trixie and mellows out enough to give up on her plans, so she kind of takes the long way around to becoming a tolerable pony.

@N2MP
Twilight isnt Celestia though and even Celestia wishes she didn’t have to seal her sister away and that she could have found another way. Starlight just didn’t wanna do shit twilight’s way and that’s fine

Look, Starlight’s being a bitch. That’s not in debate, but I’m feeling the same way now as when I read the end of their earlier battle. Starlight’s morality is screwed up, but I don’t think Starlight’s words are wrong.

For two of those scenarios she had to be saved by someone else, and the last one she had to talk Starlight down, who in this universe seemingly only did it out of pragmatism.

I certainly don’t think she’d make a better leader than Twilight, but letting your temper get the better of you makes you vulnerable, and always trying to preach friendship and second chances just because someone shows a little remorse isn’t always a good solution, and Starlight shows the folly of such thinking. So I don’t blame her for calling Twilight pretentious and self-righteous, always just acting like she can play the hero for misguided souls when sometimes you either have to take them down or at the least lock them up.

Even after Starlight kicked her ass all Twilight asked was if she really intended never to make friends, as if an assassination attempt would be swept under the rug if she had said yes.

In the end, she just seems naive and too merciful, while her mentor had the guts to make the painful decision to lock her own corrupted sister in the moon for a thousand years. Between the two of them, Twilight doesn’t hold a candle to Celestia.

I’m a future version of the BGP you replied to, here to say that honestly, stripping Glimmer of her magic would not even start to be justice. We’ll ignore that she attacked Twilight and cost her an eye, she’s apparently done far worse than that. She’s murdered, by her own admission.

And you need glasses to look at things a little better… And a chill pill, going by the three in a row comments.
I don’t completely hate her. Though I do have an issue with how she’s portrayed here. I’m more just annoyed about people making drama as well as the people praising and ranting her to be the best and those screaming and ranting how she’s the worst.

More specifically, I dislike how one of the Hasbro people in charge of MLP is, as far as I’m learning and hearing, praising and worshiping her without acknowledging anyone elses opinion.

Your an idiot. Not of those former enemies ever faced the consequences. You’re just biased against Starligh, who has turned out to be one of the best characters.

And whether you like it or not, more people love Starlight then hate her. And she just becomes more and more popular as time goes by. You idiot haters need to fu**ing grow up.
Background Pony #1A48
This Starlight is right. The haters here are just too stupid to realize it.

Doesn’t matter. I never asked for an explanation of what is going on and I could care less of “who won”, “who lost”.

While indeed Twilight’s anger is blinding her judgement or whatever, I do not think Twilight is wrong to act in this way after all the things Starlight have done. Letting go of grudge isn’t easy nor I think it’s wrong if there is a good reason behind it. Starlight took Twilight’s eye, cutie mark and friends, I think those are all extremely good reasons to hate that time traveling bitch.

Finally, I am tired of this bullshit of Starlight getting a free pass to do anything she wants, even the most barbaric atrocities and never, NEVER facing any sort of punishment! Luna, Discord, Trixie, Sunset and even Thorax to some extent had to face and deal of the consequences of their past actions.

Startlight? Every new fanfiction I see, every new fanart I see, she just gets to go free and be the savior or being in the right or being the proof that Twilight saved her or be whatever the artist/author want Starlight to be. This one in particular also triggers me because even after being “reformed” Starlight is still a psycopathic bitch, which is a great personality for her by the way.

Now, I found this comic at first by accident and I regret reading it; this comic brought back all the anger I had finally repressed for this really, really stupid character that I just want to punch in the face and ask “what’s wrong with you?!”

Doesn’t matter. Glimmer won the battle because she is willing to do anything to get what she wants. Twilight, even worried and angry as she is, doesn’t want to kill. She wanted to save Glimmer, and if she could find a way, she’d do it, even at this late stage.

But here’s the thing. Future Glimmer, which is actually present Glimmer, finally made a friend. She stopped scheming, she found her own path. Twilight lost all of those battles, but ultimately she saved even this Glimmer, just by being a good pony and setting a good example.

It’s satisfying, in its own way. No, it’s not justice, but if Twilight wanted justice she would have stripped Glimmer of her magic and thrown her into Tartarus. What she wanted was what Glimmer did, after wasting so much time being resentful.

Glimmer can claim she won all she likes, she’s wearing the mark of friendship on her face.
Background Pony #E1E0
So basically the artist is saying Twilight is bad for being overprotective of her child and hating Starlight AFTER Starlight have done so much shit to Twilight’s life.
Good to know that this artist hates poor Twilight and is willing to portrait her in such “pathetic” way while the psycopath gets a free pass to save the timelines because golly, Starlight has to be the fucking savior since she can only do no wrong!
Background Pony #F5B7
@Ack_Attack
Even Glimmer is sick and tired over it. It’s not “we fight all the time” it’s “every time we’ve fought”. And most importantly, it’s not “I am a better leader” it’s “I was a better leader.” She’s so over trying to take over the world she’s actually insulted that Twilight would think she would come after her daughter and has made friends with Trixie. This is not a mare with a scheme, this is a mare who got tired of scheming and took up being a magician’s assistant because it was something to do and she finally decided a friend might not be so bad.

Twilight, when she put Glimmer in a cell, asked tearfully if Glimmer couldn’t put in the effort to make at least one friend. At the time, Glimmer refused. But she did, finally.

Twilight won.
Background Pony #F5B7
@G.S.
She didn’t win at all, though. Her long term goal is to remove Twilight from power and have enough power to replace her, since she acknowledges removing Twilight means Equestria has no champion. Twilight still lives, so she’s at best pestered Twilight, and inconvenienced her so she has to use magic to see out of one eye.

I’m not even mad at Glimmer anymore so much as sad for her. It’s clear she’s tired of hating Twilight. Where the younger Starlight was a burning fire of hate, the older looks like she’s stirring up ashes trying to find a spark.

We’ve canonically seen Twilight’s temper.
It is under heavy lock and key, but it is there.
