No, being a dickhead is part of Discord’s character.

looks at Starlight drama tag
Yep. Sure.
Soviet invent time travel.
Arguably, her li’l time travel scheme wasn’t exactly grounded in reality either.
I didn’t really see her as a socialist dictator, but more of a cult leader.
Discord was a villain that fantasy-life style, chaotic.
Starlight was a villain that is real-life style, orderly and socialistic.
So what do you want then? Have her shot for it?
Ready the firing squad!
Even so, she was knowingly taking away their free will so that they’d obey her every command. In a way, this is even worse than what she was doing in her old village back when she was a villain.
Nice to hear somebody does. If neither character had flaws, or never did anything wrong, (as you’d expect reforming former villains would) then they’d be pretty boring.
I also don’t understand the increase in Discord hate lately, as I kinda like him being a morally “grey” character, or anti-hero kinda, or even a sometimes nuisance. If Discord was completely good, he wouldn’t be chaotic, or Discord anymore.
And that common claim that he’s “only nice to Fluttershy” (which keeps getting regurgitated repeatedly recently) isn’t true either, as “What About Discord?” shows he genuinely sometimes gets along with the other characters, not to mention he has helped them in the past, befriended, and found a RPG board game hobby with Spike & Big Mac.
Even his jerkish moments like say when he teased Twilight about becoming a princess in S4’s opening episodes seemed to be him secretly trying to help her by encouraging her to go to her friend’s side for help. Even his li’l Q-like “tests,” seem to be in trying to help Twilight.
Even in the S4 finale despite his betrayal, he genuinely showed remorse, and saddness over it, (to the point he looked as if he didn’t care about being rescued) and was genuinely kind to Twilight after she showed mercy to him, and told Tirek to release him, as well.
So honestly, people tend to exaggerate how bad EVERY character is constantly, and it gets kinda old.
Heck, I still remember the S1 (Season 1) days when some fans argued that the CMC were “ruining the show.”

Totally agreed
Kinda exaggerating there with “dark magic,” and “mindless slaves.” Starlight still had to deal with her control issues, and in the end she learned her lesson.
And it kinda makes sense for Discord, as you guys forget he’s a being of chaos, so he has to be unpredictable.

Not entirely true, as things he has done has come back to bite him in the butt several times. Like in “Three’s a Crowd,” the Smooze episode, and the finale, and such.
Frankly, I think Discord’s, and Starlight’s flaws, are what make them kinda interesting, as opposed to “unlikeable” as some in this thread claim, as they fight over which character is “worse.”
(Ironically, taking the bait of this image, obviously meant to start such an argument.)

Which literally made no sense at all, especially in terms of his character and continuity.
@Alphamon_Ouryuken
So we’re just going to ignore the fact that Starlight saw nothing wrong whatsoever with using dark magic to brainwash her friends, turning them into her mindless slaves, thereby taking away their free will, all to impress her teacher? Okay, then.
In fact, much like how some refuse to forgive Discord, some refuse to forgive Starlight, as well.

Uh, no. He did that just because he wanted attention. Hell, he never even bothered to offer to help.
You will also then remember the only reason as due to her being an asshole and telling him to stay away rim the school hen he just wanted to help
Also, in a twisted and no logical ways he also tried to help or be a good guy, not always but often. He has flaws, great and rilevant flaws, but he is IC. and also he becomes better. Never perfect but better.
Discord flip-flops about every other episode and is willing to be cruel and manipulative purely out of spite and jealousy.
Hell you’ve even got episodes like A Matter of Principals last year where him going out of his way to ruin Starlight’s attempts to run the school and she has to apologize to him.
Once again Discord is the problem and yet never has to own up to what he did.

@archestereo
I refer you to my previous statements, Starlight at the very least tried to curb her impulsiveness and acknowledged when she did something wrong. Discord on the other hand actually went out of his way to be an ass to everyone who wasn’t Fluttershy.
The main difference between the two comes down to intent behind their actions and empathy for the results.
Also we must remember that everyones lost their mind when he started to be reformed, screaming that he must remain evil and mean.
I think that the writers made a good job with a “grey character”, not really good but also bad. A pure Caotic Neutral.
I agree with this and it’s how I feel. I liked discord but I never understood how when he did less wrong the fans liked him less. Whenever I asked it was because he was a dick and was “evil” yet starlight was good as she just was
