That would be fine if the writers hadn’t decided to make the fact that they hardly had time for themselves a plot point for several episodes
That’s a really good take on it.
I like it from the perspective of Twilight’s character. She never wanted to be a princess, nobody asked her opinion about it, all she ever wanted to do was study and educate. With the school, she finally got to live that dream on a major scale. Part of me wishes that she would have refused Celestia’s offer (to make her the new ruler of Equestria) so she could keep doing what she loves, instead of becoming “Celestia 2.0”

Cartoon logic, sure, but it’s easier to imagine (even going by real world “standards” of trip time) a week or two every now and then being worked into a schedule than 8-10 hours a day at a school, every day, on top of other full time endeavors.
None of it is realistic but one is escapism, the other is work.
That’s fair. It was pretty bait-y of them, but I mean considering what Spike episodes typically were like, at least he didn’t cause all of the problems for everybody again.
I don’t recall people complaining about friendship quests getting in the way of their jobs
Eh. I didn’t like the second one. Mainly because I thought that the mystery of Spike’s parents and past was actually going to be addressed, but no.
Oh yeah, that was pretty cool. There were 2 pretty decent Spike episodes, weren’t there?
Also Spike finally got wings after 7 years.
