Alternatively, it would’ve shown that Twilight is willing to die for those she loves. Her friends mean everything to her, and she’s willing to give up everything for them. The ultimate act of friendship.
Plus, it would’ve been sad. I want more sad.
That kind of destroys the whole message of the series though. One pony/person couldn’t win the fight alone. It took everycreature standing together to defeat the ultimate villains.
