So there she stood.  
Nearly an entire week of tracking down, with nothing but the fur on her back. She was battered and bruised, but her spirit hadn’t been broken.  
Just like that, her years of training and endless lectures were over, and so was the life of her soul bond. From the body of the massive wolf, a spirit nearly tripling her size emerged, laying it’s cosmic face against hers and staring deep into her icy gaze. Behind it, it’s body turned to a blueish dust, taken by the gentle winds that ruffled the trees. All that remained where the bleached bones of what once was an incredible alpha.  
Bonded by their souls since birth, Ondrea was finally meeting the creature that would lead her to the afterlife when her time came, and in the same regard, she was meeting her companion and protector for life. The mare was finding it hard to hold back tears.  
“You’re magnificent, my beast” Ondrea whispered, eyes lost in his galactic-blue visage. A huff erupted from within him and passed through his glowing maw, the heat of his air blowing hard against her face and mane. She laughed, unaware of the tears that chose to grace her face. He was gorgeous.  
Ondrea would soon turn her attention to the bones behind him, walking carefully past. With one of her oversized wings she’d gently caress his skull, before carefully picking it up with her wing and nestling it within her hair. As she did, the skull rattled with power, glowing a bright blue as she fought with it’s movements to get it perfectly situated on her head. When it finally found it’s spot, a burst of light erupted from inside the eye sockets, snagging onto her wolf’s tail. The bond was official.  
Ondrea stood up, still wounded from her venture but completely unaware of her pain. Pride swelled within her, and from behind her guardian rose, a bond from birth and now for life.
