I don’t agree with your disagreement. Impious might be an obnoxious white knight that probably sleeps with a Celestia body pillow, but he’s right about one thing: She’s got loads of character, but since she’s a fairly minor character it never really gets a chance to mean anything. Her interactions with other characters, simple context clues and simple worldbuilding show her as a kind, benevolent goddess, who deep down is just a regular pony who wants to have regular friends and enjoy a normal day.
 
But, that doesn’t matter because she isn’t a main character, and serves only to be a storytelling device. I have to agree, she does deserve a little better. Not a WHOLE lot better, but… Better. Better than being relegated to a cardboard cutout now that she isn’t the money-making pink princess toy.

She’s just the maternal teacher figurehead rather than a real character. Always has been.
 
Hence why they just got rid of her with a single Chrysalis beam in Canterlot Wedding.

She deserves better, sure, but it’s the truth. Calling it now, Twilicorn is canon and she ascends because Celestia dies of Plot-Induced-Cancer-AIDS or some stupid shit.

Either Celestia’s being saved for some epic moment towards the end of the season, or she’s effectively become less than a background pony.
