She hadn’t really done anything. Attempted to usurp the throne for herself, maybe attempted regicide/sororocide/deicide at worst. But with the Elements by Celestia’s side, Nightmare Moon really never had a chance to actually do anything.

I remember reading a short fic about Luna stuck on the moon, finding it increasingly difficult to keep her sanity as time passed. Finally, however, finally she’d held on long enough. She’d had so much time to reflect on what she’d done, and she was ready to make amends and reconcile with her sister.
 
Just as soon as her year-long banishment ended.

By the time she got back, she could max out the score counter fairly consistently, but the score would never save, as the battery memory on her GameColt cartridge would be long dead by that point.
