Firefly Twinkle is a shy unicorn mare who is one of Twilight’s top students, as well as one of the most popular students. She is gifted in magic just like Twilight, but her shyness can hinder her ability when she is required to demonstrate her magic in front of everypony, resulting in clumsy accidents. Like Fluttershy, she has to take baby steps in being more confident and bettering her magic, as one big leap is just too much for her. She is also kind and though loves making friends, she has a hard time with that as well due to her shyness, but once she gets past it, she’s more open, and begins to come out of her shell and be herself around her friends. Because of this, she is not good with big crowds, and prefers small ones. She can be assertive when it really counts, but she still needs work to be more confident/assertive to perform her magic or perform in general in front of everypony, and to overcome being overwhelmed by big crowds. She is a fast learner with a good memory so memorizing spells isn’t a problem for her, so it isn’t needed for her to study. Her sister, however, insists on her studying anyway even though she is reminds Lavender she doesn’t need to, and that she is just jealous that she has to study so she won’t end up struggling with flying again.
 
Lavender Duskglow is a smart, studious pegasus mare who is the top student in Rainbow Dash’s class, gifted in flying. As a filly, she struggled to fly like Fluttershy, but with determination, flying exercises and practice everyday, all day, she became one of the strongest flyers in Equestria next to Sunrise Spark. She loves to study in order to do and be at her best for anything thrown her way, but like Twilight, will go into an anxiety attack if she doesn’t have enough time before a big exam, worried she won’t do as well, let alone be at her best. She will not tolerate her friends or anypony else for that matter, being mistreated and like Fluttershy, has a stare that will paralyze anypony with fear resulting in them listening to her. She also has a habit of annoying her sister, Firefly Twinkle, with needing to study in order to be successful in her magic, despite her being a quick learner with a good memory, and that she should focus on studying flying herself since once struggled with flying and wouldn’t want to end up struggling again. Lavender got really annoyed by that, but she knew deep down she deserved that even though she is jealous of her sister being a fast learner with a good memory. If she doesn’t study, she’ll forget what she had learned before and will need to relearn it.
