It started after I had been practicing hard with the guys to perform at the Lunar Eclipse Festival to be held in Canterlot by the Regal Sisters.
I was so tuckered out I completely lost track of time and I closed my eyes so firmly.
The next thing is that I remember overhearing Luna and Celestia as I remained hidden in the balcony.
I understand it must be done, dear Sister.
Yes, it is inevitable; the child born under the sign of the Moon must face this ordeal alone, you know how it is.
But can’t we spare this one? I see great wonders within him.
No. You must carry on with your duties.
I will, but I’m well aware of the heartache he will suffer when the Shadow arrives.
Don’t overprotect you children or they will become harder to tame.
Very well then but beware of the colt with eyes of maroon for he shall appear when the Shadow devours the Moon.
The sound of a distant windchime deprived from my sleep.
I shook my head and struggled to look at the time.
“Wow; 3 o’ clock in the morning already?”
Since this was rather awkward for me I became sort of upset and cold; I left the windows open not expecting for the weather to shift so much.
Before I was about to close it I stared at the starry sky with thick gloomy clouds which adorned the almost Full Moon.
I stood there like an idiot mesmerized at the way it glowed.
“Beware of the colt with eyes of maroon; you will meet him when the Shadow devours the Moon.”
These were some words that were burned into my head about that dream. Whenever I saw Luna in this oniric world she talked in riddles and this was no exception. It sounded like a clear warning to me but no idea of what it meant.
Like a freaking ninja Lilicat jumped on my back and got me out of my trance.
“Hey! Easy, girl.”
Anyway, I really needed to get some sleep; tomorrow would be a rather busy day.
My attitude didn’t show much improvement throughout the rest of the day. I had woken up somewhat late. They said I was especially irritable.
Even my best pal Twigster kept asking me funny little things like,
“Are you okay?”
And my response was something like, “What’s that excatly supposed to mean?”
“Relax, dude, no need to get all cranky and stuff.”
We were at a fitting with Vivienne Sablebrush in downtown Canterlot, the infamous pony designer, the leader of the “enfant terribles” of all the land. And here she came in like nothing at all with her signature long fiery mane, baby blue coat and colorful, eye catching dresses.
Her boutique resembled the past decade where the neon signs furnished the busy streets of Canterlot full of hip nightclubs.
“Welcome, my pretties!” She cried. “It’s about time you know, I’m so looking forward to this night , I’ve been told it’s full of surprises.”
“Hi, there, Viv,” said Fred. “I bet you’re the one who’s full of surprises.”
“Thats’s flattering, Dear,” she said. “Onward to the vogue!”
She clapped her hooves and in a matter of seconds her entire entourage of seamstresses and designers, most of them with specialized magic. Because of the experience and reputation she already had she just supervised.
Naturally I became the first “fashion victim” and it actually wasn’t that bad. I was clad in pure black.
“Oh yes, black is making a major comeback these days, “ said Vivienne in a friendly tone.
“But you know I always liked it,” I replied.
“Yeees! And only you make it seen much more appealing, such contrast, such splendour, it even highlights your eyes!”
I held my head up high and said, “Oh, thanks. I got that from my mother.”
“And she must be a very charming mare indeed. Now raise you arms, dear.”
In very little time, let’s say a week Vivienne managed to put together a stunning shiny black hoodie.
“What are these, they look so unique?” I asked.
“Appliqués with moon motifs, of course, to celebrate the ocassion!”
They looked as if they were made out of emerald and opal. I couldn’t be more thankful however it seemed to be a little tight.
“What do you think of it?” she asked anxiously.
And I said in a lower voice, “Could you loosen it up a little bit?”
“Oh…certainly.”
And as the magic of her dedicated young unicorn assistant worked Twigster giggle at me.
“What, what’s the matter now?”
“Oh, nothing, it’s just that I find this so funny.”
Evidently that last comment made me so uncomfortable I had to contain myself, “It was just a request, I need to be as loose as possible for when I hit the stage you know.”
“Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings or anything but you do look awesome.”
“Great, awesome I can handle but how about epic?”
He thought it over and said, “Nah, I don’t think you’re quite there yet.”
“Just get this done already and let’s hit the road,” said Fred. “I don’t actually need to be so flashy, I rely completely on my good friend,” he said referring to his guitar.
“You could stop by more often,” said Vivienne. “You could use a little makeover.”
