Description

The first visit didn’t go quite how Flower Power had hoped. Lightning Dust wasn’t her dad at all, not even a chance. But that was okay! She had it narrowed down to the two stallions from her mom’s album; one of them had to be the one. She would know when she met him!

Flower grinned, eagerly waiting for the stallion to open the door before her. She didn’t even know anything about Feather Bangs except what she saw in pictures. But he looked a lot like her! What if he was the one?

As if on cue, the door swiftly opened to the stallion she was looking for, confidently flipping his hair.

”Ladies~”

But once he looked down, his eyes widened.

”Oh! Thought you were someone else. What’s up, little filly?”

“Hi, Mr. Feather!” Flower beamed up at the stallion who was possibly her father, trying her best to make a good first impression. “I’m Tree Hugger’s daughter. She, um…sent me here. It’s nice to meet you! I was wondering if we could…go for a walk?”

Feather Bangs shrugged. “I guess. Don’t know what there is to see out here, but sure.”

“So why’d Tree Hugger send you out here anyway?”

Flower knew he’d ask sooner or later. It was all going to plan, really—she’d spend some time getting to know him, then reveal that he might be her dad. If she didn’t know right away she’d be sure to know once she explained it. Besides, Feather Bangs was pretty nice…it was possible!”

”Actually, she…didn’t,” Flower admitted, pulling the photo album out of her saddlebag. “I decided to come myself. You used to date my Mama, right?”

Feather Bangs inspected the page she’d opened to, a look of remembering slowly spreading across his face. “Oh yeah…I almost forgot about that! Good times, but I had other ladies pining for me. Why you bringing this up now though? Shouldn’t you be more concerned with your dad than the random ponies she’s messed around with?”

”I don’t know my dad actually! But you’re one of the ponies she dated right before I was born. So I was thinking, maybe, that you might be my dad?”

”Your DAD?” Feather’s voice jumped several octaves as his eyes widened like a spooked deer. “L-look kid, it’s cool hanging out with ya, but I can’t be your dad. There’s no way. I’m not dad material at all. I can’t just become one like that-“

“But you dated my Mama! It’s possible!”

”Sweet Celestia it really is possible…” he whispered in horror. “Sorry kid, but I can’t! I just can’t! I don’t know the first thing about being a dad and—I gotta go!”

All of a sudden, the stallion reared back and galloped off, whinnying in fright the entire way.

”Goodbye, I guess?”

Flower sighed, watching him go. Things were going so well, and…she thought she was finding answers. But then he got scared and she was back where she started. Back to not knowing.

And if the next stallion didn’t give her answers, she’d never know.
