Nickname(s): Lumi  
Species/Gender: Unicorn/Male  
Mark/Talent: Stylized silhouette of a rearing unicorn with a pink heart, somewhat resembling a heraldic animal. Repsresenting his loyalty and how he will protect those he cares about.  
Personality: Serious, aloof, a bit insecure. But also loyal and honorable. Terribly anti-social, but will still do everything in his power to protect those he cares about.  
Important relationships:  
Cadence (Mother) - He loves her and always tries to make her proud of him, but he’s not quite sure how relate to her. They care for each other from a distance.  
Shining Armor (Father) - Shining and Luminous is very close; Shining taught him everything he knows, and they both love spending time together sparring, discussing battle tactics or just hanging out.  
Flurry Heart (Older sister) - Luminous isn’t quite sure how he feels about his big sister. Under one hoof, she’s his sister and he loves her, under another, she’s most likely going to become ruler one day which means he has to follow her orders. A part of him is annoyed and thinks that she’s much too weak emotionally, while another loathes himself for thinking that.  
Diletto (Younger brother) - He never interacted much with either of the twins. He supposes Diletto is alright, a bit goofy but kind.  
Felicity (Younger sibling) - Same as Diletto, he never spent much time with them when he was younger. As an adult, he find Felicity to be very good at giving him advice on how to deal with other ponies, even if that’s made their relationship a bit too much like therapist and patient, rather than siblings. They often spar together, since Felicity is the only one of his siblings who enjoys it.  
Fire Aurora (Younger Sister) - As a kid, he hated her. Absolutely despised her, and he wasn’t afraid to show it to her. As an adult he deeply regrets this, but isn’t sure how to fix their past relationship, so he usually just gives her space.  
Faerie Sky (Youngest Brother) - He’s just a foal, so Luminous suppsed he has to have oversight with his little brother’s tendency to not take anything seriously. He tries his best to be a good role model to the colt.
 
History:  
As the second child of Princess Cadence and Prince consort Shining Armor, Luminous Spirit’s arrival was widely celebrated -not quite to the level of Flurry Heart, but the empire still loved their new prince. He barely had the chance to enjoy (…or remember) it though, as the twins arrived two years later and stole the limelight as the darlings of the empire… and then Aurora came and took the title. He grew up with a very strong case of the “middle child syndrome”.
 
As a colt, he often felt very lonely and overlooked; Flurry was an alicorn and heir to the throne, the twins had each other, and Aurora was their parents’ baby. He’s try to compensate by gathering as many “friends” around him as he could in school, which was pretty easy considering his status -it didn’t matter if they only stayed to be close with a prince, as long as they stayed and paid attention to him.
 
He did a lot of stuff back then which he isn’t particulary proud of; cheating in order to get good grades, ignoring how his possé would treat other foals, lying to teachers and his parents in order to keep his “friends” safe from reprecussions etc. The thing he regrets the most is how he started bullying people, especially his little sister Aurora.
 
One of the things which he remembers fondly from his childhood, was when his dad would take the time and tech him how the guard worked. They’d visit the barracks and the armory, they’d watch the guard train, and sometimes spar together. Lumi would never win for real, but it was still fun.
 
He got his mark as a young teen when he came across some of his so-called-friends cornering a crystal ewe and trying to tie some cans to its tail. He honestly wasn’t sure why he decided to step in, he had never minded them doing stuff like that before, but he decided to beat the crap out of them for it. He didn’t get into any trouble for it, none of them dared to tell on him, but he still felt really weird about getting his mark for that. For the longest time he was convinced that his mark meant he was good at beating people up, and would just stall and change the subject when his parents talked about how it must mean honor and bravery and such and such.
 
As he approached adulthood though, he really started to re-think his behaviour. It wasn’t anything big that happened, just him growing up and getting more responsibilities, and realising that he needed to do better. He was second in line to the throne, people who have never met or spoken to him still look up to him as someone they could trust to protect and potentially lead them. He hadn’t done anything to earn that, aside from being his parents’ son. After a long time of personal reflection, he decided that it didn’t matter what he got his mark for; beating people up, protecting people, fighting, honor, good or bad -he decided that from now on it meant that he would do his best to be the prince everyone needed him to be.
 
 
Trivia:  
Seems to have inherited crystal fur from… somewhere; neither Cadence nor Shining has it. When the press started to get a bit to aggressive in their speculations and rumors, a parternity test was performed just to make sure they didn’t bother Luminous when he got old enough to understand what was going on. Sure enough, he’s his dad’s son. That still doesn’t explain how he’s able to turn himself cystal whenever he wants to, just like crystal ponies can. (It’s because Cadence’s ancestors are crystal ponies, and the genes just randomly happend to reemerge in Luminous, but they don’t know that)  
In his spare time, he likes to bake and cook. Late at night, after all the kitchen staff has left, you can often find him trying out recepies or experimenting with creating new ones. The results of these laste night excursions are either left for the morning palace staff to enjoy, or quitely thrown away upon taste-testing.  
Has inherited Shining’s proficiency for shield-spells. He’s not as good as his dad, but is still a lot better than the average unicorn.  
He’s usually satisfied with his life and work, but sometimes gets moments when he feels terribly lonely and afraid of the future. Is this routine really all there is to his life?  
Usually tries to look nice and “prince-ly”, and is most commonly seen wearing either his armor or a dress-collar.
