I chose to be optimistic about the whole thing until this guy popped up. I don’t mind a new character, but given the setting and the fact that he’s a different gender really bugs me. Add a new character to the main cast, fine. Add one that doesn’t fit, not fine.
 
Also it probably wasn’t smart on the creators (not blaming Hasbro quite yet, they may not have much to do with it) to add a character that will almost universally be reviled. Could he turn out to be okay? Yes. Will he? I doubt it. This whole thing screams overly cliche to me.
