This is a reference to the Next Generation episode “Cause and Effect” where the Enterprise and another starfleet vessel from the past get caught in a temporal loop and continue to collide into each other, until the Enterprise crew makes the correct decision in how to avoid the collision. Given that this book has multiple endings, I can kind of see where this fan art is going, but I’ve never read the book so I don’t know if it connects well.
