I’m admittedly not familiar with Filly Funtasia, but the idea made sense in my head since Pegasi do apparently have their own kind of magic. Tiny wings can be super cute, and would make for easier resting and such, but wouldn’t make for very effective flight… Though, I do also like the idea that the big ol’ wings wouldn’t shrink after all, and figuring out different ways that Pegasi and Alicorns would cope and adjust to them in their day-to-day life.
 
And yeah, I’m hoping to find a good balance with how large I want Celestia and Luna’s wings to be. Massive and elegant, commanding respect and authority, but not so silly-huge they’d need custom-built doors just to go from room to room. And yes, I’m definitely planning for the Princesses to have the colored feathers as well! Got a few different ideas, so I’ll be doing a little experimenting. :3 May wind up with a few different versions to share if I can’t decide, though!
 
And don’t worry, it’s highly unlikely I’d draw that sort of stuff (unless paid very well lol) - besides, I’d rather keep the guro-type stuff to my non-MLP mafia story. :P

The magically shrinking wings sounds like something out of old MLP and perhaps Filly Funtasia, but hey, it’s acceptable head canon in my book. Really tiny wings on anthros can entirely ruin a picture for me. Of course, no animal that heavy can fly with just physics, but tiny little wings with a six foot tall body just would look extremely weird. My gold standard for anthro tends to be the 6-12 foot wide range, as they’re big enough to look awesome and yet I can still see them folding properly with a upper back bone not like, crushing the wings or not allowing you to sit on your back. Or maybe it’s cartilage? I’m an English major, not a biologist or artist.
 
 
Regardless, the huge wings look awesome. Almost sounds like you want to go anime angel large for Celestia/Luna, which could get a bit silly if you go too insane, but hey, it could also look gorgeous! Also, the clear definition between her blue/rainbow feathers both on the outer and inner wings are awesome. You can see where the plumage entirely changes over clearly, and just that extra little bit of effort that makes me squee. If you do the princesses, will they have that as well? Luna’s/Celestia’s could be a pain to draw, but some artists have pulled it off!
 
 
And unless you start drawing vore/guro/rape stuff, I’m here to comment on anything you draw! Even lewd.

Thank you so so much for all the kind words! Though, I’m actually not professionally trained, at least in art - my fire dept. and EMS training was strictly medical- and rescue-oriented, so I’m entirely self-trained in art and still very much learning. I’m glad the anatomy looks alright, though! It’s been a lot of fun finding a balance in my style. I’m still much more comfortable with drawing anthro bodies, as I’ve mostly drawn humans and humanoids, but I hope to improve on non-anthro ponies as well!
 
I’m a big sucker for fluffy hooves, though for Rainbow Dash here I opted for an overall sleeker look - gotta take wind resistance into account, after all, and I find a lean build really suits her. As far as wing size goes, I like to imagine that Pegasi could use their magic to shift their wing size to be smaller when at rest, and larger when ready to fly. Since this picture was largely an anatomy test, I wanted to draw them in their full size for reference. Alicorn wings would be massive as a show of status - I’m talkin’ floor-length - and I’m currently working on a set of the five to show their own personal variations (though I’m unsure how long it’ll take to finish).
 
I’m also really glad to hear that the front-facing snout looks alright! I’m still experimenting with length in side views, so I was unsure how well I could translate it into a front view. Still got a lot to figure out, but I’ve been pleased with my progress so far and I’m glad others are enjoying it as well!!
 
I do try my best not to rush myself when it comes to drawing, since I don’t want my work to come out looking messy, but I’ve been absolutely buzzing with ideas for MLP stuff (plus an AU project as well) and hope to have a lot more to share very soon! A new random artist who just popped up on my feed and I’m so glad you did. Multicolored wings and unguligrade anthro is how I found you, and you nail both.
 
I see through your tumblr that you are professionally trained, or at least did this professionally for police and the fire department, and it shows with both this work and your former stuff! I absolutely love this picture through and through, and it’s freshing to see such an exceptionally well done picture with realistic anatomy.  
Where do I begin? Love the unshorn fetlocks, and you nailed how an anthro horse with hooves would stand up - which I vastly prefer over feet! - by having that enlongated heel. It’s perfect. Huge, thick anthro wings are also another love of mine, and sure, we’ll not think about how they fold up to be comfortable. Shh! Gorgeous. The long, thick feathers; the curvature to the outside of the wings where you can see how the ligiments work and fold; the additional streak of her own colors on the end of all of her feathers just comes out of her… so naturally!
 
 
And not only do I love that, but you nailed the snout from a frontal perspective as well. Doesn’t look human, or like you slapped on the feral muzzles on an anthro body; it’s your own unique take! That curvature of her chin and jaw line shows the length to it - but not like real life horse snout long - and the way the nostrils flare back instead of being just little dots. Love that little touch. Eyes are just big enough to be equine and anime like but not so huge to look like they take up half her head or be, again, real life horse small compared to the snout. And that wild, all over the place mane!
 
 
Take your time drawing MLP stuff, cause you’re so, freaking, good!
