It still makes no sense to start wars with each other over a few missing kids..but we all know Ember and The Dragon Army would slaughter the other creatures, Hippogriffs would go extinct along with Yaks and Griffins
That’s my big criticism: they threw in all the cool character designs all at once in the final 2 seasons. Sure, the yaks and dragons and gay changelings have been around for longer than that, but they were previously always separate and rarely interacted with ponies. It would have been a much smoother transition if they had emissaries to Canterlot instead of suddenly sending students (diplomatic hostage trading) to Twilight’s suddenly-opened friendship school (really a plot for Hasbro to sell new toy sets).

I think it would be cool for future MLP generations if these cool species were less in the outskirts of the show in the future, though. I love the character designs, and the different cultures are really fun to look at.
They sent students to the School of Friendship because they’re allies of Equestria, and Princesses Celestia and Twilight reached out to them to request it. Boom, all the reason necessary.
Presumably the leaders (or ambassadors) came themselves because it was such a momentous occasion, to have their species invited to attend school in Equestria, that they wanted to be there themselves, in addition to accompanying their charges.
S8 would have been more believable if they didn’t have all the other species decide to send their ambassadors to Ponyville for no good reason. We really should have seen these species in the background of Canterlot in earlier seasons.

They’ve been planning this ending for a while. Plus, tolerance and diversity are the foundations of this show, always have been.

Or they were Hasbro’s decision to sell more toys and were canceled when they weren’t popular enough
i always draw a comparison to Scrubs.
in Scrubs you had all these characters and near the end of the show they introduced these younger and new characters, when Scrubs ended it basically just continued with the new characters. i assume something similar will happen here too
