Came up with a new OC in my canon, his name is Celestial Stream, and is what my canon calls a “Transcendent Alicorn”, and ties in greatly with the prime universe I have which has a bit of a different pre-history to the MLP world with bloodlines tracing back eons to the “first alicorn” and the first alicorns and ponies.
 
Celestial Stream can channel alicorn power in a pinch, such as when he needs to protect others or defend himself and is otherwise overpowered. This happens to all Unicorns in his bloodline which trace back to the First Alicorn, Alexandrine, herself. Every few thousand years one unicorn in the bloodline will channel this alicorn power as needed, and the entire family has always referred to them as “transcendant alicorns” due to the fact that while they remain Unicorns, they can occasionally transcend the Unicorn condition and become an Alicorn for a short temporary time period.
