Eyup “Friss” is animal talk and there for slightly dehumanizing, but not to such a harmful degre as some american dehumanizing that it can also be just slang.
If I remember my high school German correctly, friss comes from fressen, which means “to feed” (like an animal). As opposed to essen, which means “to eat” (like a person).
So, “Eat this!” isn’t quite the meaning implied by Friss das! I gather the meaning is more like “Feed on this, you pig!”
