Still we don’t know about darkness and sadly i started got in my head a theory that Eris actually was responsible for Stygian transformation

This guy’s motives extend from Stygian’s bitterness and feelings of inadequacy, but The Pony of Shadows would appear to want complete and utter darkness, because the more there is, the more powerful he is. No other motives are given for him, and we never see him in a position of responsibility.
 
Nightmare Moon’s goal was to create everlasting night, putting her and her efforts front and center. Her motives extended from Luna’s bitterness and need for recognition, but - as we see in The Cutie Re-Mark - the moon still shines during her reign, and despite being a despot, she appears to maintain a peaceful, healthy Equestria in Celestia’s absence.
