given that it’s a vampire, he’s probably working undercover as a front for working undercover with the crusaders as a double agent so they can’t tell he’s working for a secret society that hasn’t surfaced in 593 years who are actually all in his thrall and hypnotized into believing they are radicalized dawn crusaders unsure of whether to trust him.
