I’m exploring the relationship between Celestia and Discord, specifically a lonnnggg time ago, a few years before he was turned to stone. Both of them are very young and immature here, but they’re still old enough to understand that they really do love each other.
 
Here, they’re spending a quiet evening in privacy away from Celestia’s subjects, and she promises she’ll always be with him. Little does she know she’s lying to him (not on purpose, but she won’t be keeping the promise).
 
They’ve mostly kept their relationship a private thing, but with thousands of curious subjects it’s difficult to maintain much solitude. Almost every single one of Celestia’s subjects disagree with her being with Discord, the only supportive pony being Luna. This is why Luna’s so quick to turn on Discord when he resorts to chaos- she trusted him with her sister’s heart and he let both of them down.
 
I have a few more drawings I’d like to do of them, two of them being when Discord is publicly harassed and threatened by citizens, and when Celestia finally decides to ask him to leave. Though it hurts her (she does love him, after all), she loves her citizens too, and Discord does become quite dangerous when provoked negatively.
 
In response to being asked to leave, Discord does some… weird stuff, dangerous stuff, to the ponies who are influencing Celestia. Though he means it as an act of love, an “I’ll protect you from those who wish to harm you” sort of thing, Tia’s very protective of her people and that’s when stuff really starts to go down.
 
 
Anyway, I don’t want to spit out all of this info/backstory/headcanon into one picture! So I’ll leave it at that for now
 
 
Side Notes
 
-Discord is a fragile lil thing, mentally speaking. Being the last living draconequus has often made him feel lonely and isolated, which is why Celestia is the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
 
-Celestia gets very poofy and fluffy when she’s around him. She’s still growing and so is Discord, so neither of them have reached their full heights (Though this doesn’t stop Discord from morphing into something gigantic).
 
-Discord’s pupils get larger when he’s relaxed, and become very tiny when he’s feeling any sort of anger or fear.
