Eh, true (if something the comics tend to flip-flop on depending on author), but in the comics the first suit actually looked like this:

So the cutie mark still has some problems fitting with the character’s origin story.

Maybe. But in the comics, wasn’t the cover story that Ironman is some random individual employed by the Stark company, and making use of Stark company technology? If it is, the cutie mark could simply mean he designed the suit.

He should be standing on his right front leg. His left arm has been giving him trouble in the movies, he wouldn’t put excess weight on it.

Think the arc-reactor would make more sense as a cutie mark, personally. More ‘high-tech something, something,’ from others perspective slash the first ever moment this version of Stark really pushed himself, and not: ‘gosh, I wonder what his secret identity is.’
 
Other then that, though? Love it. Great design.
