This pic is by KrisRix, of Sailor Moon Abridged infamy. Since she’s a “known” person with a long-established fanbase, I guess that she feels she can act more like dA’s “professionals” and watermark the shit out of anything she does.
 
(actually come to think of it, real professionals on dA like Sibsy, Lauren, and Andy Price don’t use the Translucent Square of Doom™ either)
 
The sentiment makes me retch. Kris is a great VA, but her art, though decent, isn’t worth watermarking like this. NO art is. There are much better Pony artists on dA and tumblr who don’t do such intrusive watermarks, and they get the credit they deserve (as long as they actually sign their stuff).

Does the artist really need a watermark AND an insignia? Decent art gone to waste.
