I hope the G5 logo looks similar to one of the unused G4 logos. I recall seeing them in Lauren’s pitch bible and liking how they looked.

The only difference that is most likely key is that 3.5 happened after 3 not during like EqG and G4.
That is true. There have been some smaller-style changes in the art-style and content of the show, but I guess even if they’re all added up these don’t come to as much as a .5 on the generation counter.
Although I suppose that one could make an argument, if so desired, that EqG constitutes G4.5? Pony characters getting swapped out for humanised versions, complete setting change, and even a slight art bump. Maybe? Or a case of YMMV?
But when G3 went from G3.5, literally everything about it changed. Character designs got swapped around, the artstyle overall got a revamp and the main cast got changed. None of that has happened with the G4 logo going from pink to purple colours.
