It’s a sort of concept art for some fanfic about wartime Equestria before the FoE era. In my headcanon, this small nation of earth ponies from northern borderlands of Equestria are still using traditional weapons- sometimes terribly outdated, but still very effective.

Yeah, very much so. I think they’re less mobile now, and aren’t usually in thier own units, rather then attactched to rifle platoons or companies.
