I’m not so sure she was ACTUALLY a bad actress. I have a funny feeling she was intentionally bombing it to make Twilight panic and see if she learned anything, but then Twilight learned nothing so Celestia had to stop with the games.
The play was going to feature Celestia. If the exchange students were able to go home and say “we did a play and even Celestia was there”, it would give the relations more strength that the leader was indeed friendly and sociable.
