Yeah, that’s more or less the impression I got.
He could’ve put it more diplomatically, but his point seemed to boil down to “you’re good dealing with one sort of crisis, we’re good at dealing with another sort of crisis, and we’re probably best off dealing with the sort of things we’re respectively good at dealing with”.

This.
In fact, his argument is all over the place. He says they’re better off staying out of combat and in their school tucked away safely, except for when the world is about to end, because what? Those situations aren’t dangerous? There’s no risk of getting killed then?
I think he’s trying to make a logical argument, but the way he’s phrasing it is, at best, really really flawed.
He’s talking about ACTUAL battle, not befriending. I didn’t see any befriending going on when the mane six defeated a horde of changelings (outperforming the Royal Guard members we saw, who were being defeated by much smaller numbers), or the Bugbear, which was such a big threat that Equestria’s special forces monster unit closed down out of fear of it.
The mane six are experienced fighters, not mere civilians that have never been in serious battles.
Yes: Maybe on some given time. Time they would not have while the others tried to kill them.
I’m not convinced it wouldn’t have worked on a couple of raiders.
But that didn’t work on any of them.
They always end up having to do something else.
Or beat them up. Like the changelings or the manticore. Or Tirek.
Twilight and her friends have very rarely had to seriously fight said threats.
Just blasted them with the elements or used friendship.
Uh, dude? They’ve been in battles before. I’ll just say, you are quite the ignorant fellow.
Seriously, there’s something wrong about telling Princess Twilight she should stick to running her school because she doesn’t know what a battle is while also saying she and her friends are the defence against world-ending threats. Somwewhere along the line, he got lost in his military pridefulness.

This doubles as a kind version of a Reason You Suck Speech for me.
Her natural curiosity is actually why i had issue with the way the comic works in the first place, not seeking out Vulpa or getting all the info she can from the start from the colonel when she ran into him. instead of just being satisfied with basically jumping in with only a “its already over”.
I guess you could argue that she was driven by urgency, but that went out the window when the colonel told her its already over.
@Spiritus Arcane
You two seem to be conflating canon “military” (lol) capabilities with fanon military capabilities. Which are two wholesale different things because one is a story component in the lightest sense and the other is drama drama galore.
If they’re part of a military (and, as I demonstrated, there is more than enough evidence to support this)- then yes, they’re a soldiers. How good of a soldiers they are - is another matter entirely. Canonically they’re no more of a failure than any other branch of Equestrian military we’ve seen so far.
Umm, what?
There’s enough evidence to me to consider them a part of Equestrian military. And, while they indeed had their share of failures, its not like the Royal Guards in the show fared any better…
The one time we’ve actually seen the Wonderbolts in what could be considered a combat situation, they failed miserably. Also there’s no sign of combat training in any of the training done at their academy. So it’s debatable if the Wonderbolts are a true part of the EUP anymore or just stunt fliers.
uh, no, not really. its much more likely for her to want to find out what happened to vulpa directly from someone who was there to see it at the time, not wait a week for the official report to be written up and then go get more details. and then the next part she didn’t really seek out at all, he jsut gave to her.

Simple, Jared Leto-pone teleported behind her, said “nothing personell, kid….” and then zandatsu’d her
I won’t say it won’t help, but indirectly if at all.
Well, yes. As it stands here we have a clueless Twilight getting what amounts to a lecture from Captain Encyclopedia. Ponder Twilight Sparkle’s character for a second; what is the more likely place for Twilight to seek out such knowledge?
Having a text dump via Twilight studying a book, then going to this stallion and asking for clarifications would be much less “telling,” since it shows Twilight actually researching and doing her thing rather than just being told the facts.
Would it really be any less telling rather than showing, if the exposition text dump is comic from someone reading a book rather than someone talking?
