Description

Unfortunately I messed up in drawing this and left pencil trails from previous work on it, so I had to take a darker photo with my phone to hide them.
In this pic, I tried to draw Sonata Dusk using my own comic art style (which I’m developing). At first I didn’t intend for this to be a serious piece of work, but it turned out better than I expected. There’s another version of this work on my deviant art account, a sepia style of the same image. Here’s the link if you’re curious https://swordcat9.deviantart.com/art/Sonata-Dusk-1-737137337

My art style a mix of things: light and shadow rendering from traditional drawing, comic book style and anime style. In anime and particularly in comics, certain parts of the body are exaggerated on purpose.
It’s true, her neck is a bit long, but I kinda did it on purpose.I wanted her to look thin, tall just like the equestria girls characters.

But thanks for the critique, many artists (particularly sculpturs) tend to make the neck too long.
Comic styles are more forgiving and there’s a lot of leeway with comic art style. This work is intended to be a comic style drawing.

This is pretty good! Although, the length and skinniness of her neck are a bit off to me. I don’t draw frequently so I’m unsure if its an art style choice. Anyway, I look forward to what’s next!

You’ll notice the clothes aren’t very correct in this drawing, but they’re not the main focus of the work-the face and hair is. I strived for a cute look, I believe I succeeded. Hope you like it. I’m working on an angry Applejack next.
