I’m sure this disappointed a lot of Maud fanboys… And that includes me as well  

Like don’t get me wrong, Maud getting a boyfriend could be interesting, but so far from what we’ve seen from him, he is just a copy, he even has a pet stick.
 
Also the whole idea of Pinkie being annoyed with him, I can almost forsee that she will be annoyed for the same reason she likes Maud. I sincerely hope not, but this episode is just not looking good at all so far, I hope to be surprised.
 
“Opposites attract” would probably be better in this case.

That episode itself revealed that Maud has hidden depeths and even conflicts, meaning she is much more than a walking punch-line.
 
I am not fan of this boyfriend thing, since he seems to be a copy of her. Which is lazy, Maud is quite unique in MLP, and having another pony like that takes away from he rmagic, even his design looks too samilliar with the way his eyes are.

My surprise was neutral.
 
I like to think they know what to dowith that. At this point, dramas like the 2013 Flash Sentry case (the first shipping related drama I can recall) are a thing I don’t want anymore, whenever you like or not. Given that fans like to make shippin on their own anyway, I sometimes wish MLP could stay entirely out of romance so we can avoid this kind of problems in the fandom. Because, honestly, I’m sick of Take ““That, Scrappy reactions among fans and even in-universe applications of it.

To be honest, that is a thing that suprised me, but not in a good way. It seems to take away from her character, it’s weird and I really don’t see a reason for story for Maud to exist apart from the jokes, which is cheap.

What really made me surprised is that apparently the premise of the episode actually resolves around it. Because, honestly, I never expected Maud of all the ponies to have a boyfriend.

i really have low expectations behind this scenario, maud was wonderful so far, but this sounds like a dissater, especially seeing how the boyfrined looks to be almost a carbon copy of her.
