Daring Do limped across the burning dunes, her sprained left foreleg unable to support her weight, left wing fractured and incapable of flight. Behind her, pouring smoke and flames into the cloudless desert sky, was the twisted wreck formerly known as the Samarha Express. Caballeron and his goons somehow tracked Daring down, despite her best efforts to cover her tracks. No pun intended.

After what happened in Somnambula, the ruthless black market dealer was out for blood. He and his goons now sported some kind of new-fangled weapon, like a miniature cannon, that fired tiny metal slugs with a deafening bang. It was only the warning of a fellow passenger (most likely killed in the crash or the fire that soon followed) that saving Daring’s life. Had she not ducked, the projectile that shattered the train window would have struck her in the head.

Daring was eternally grateful, and it hurt her deeply to think that she was the only survivor. While the famed adventurer could come across as abrasive, she was at heart a good and honorable mare, and never forgot those that helped her.

Focusing on what was to be a long, arduous journey, Daring tried to recall her previous desert experiences, and followed the sun, knowing that somewhere beyond the dunes was civilization.
