Description

sorry for not answering the ask directly, tumblr was squishing the images down so much that you couldn’t see the difference. :( it still kinda sucks so here’s the full res!
anyway I use these two brushes for 99% of my drawing! I usually draw on a multiply layer against a midtone background, and switch from black to white to lighten/erase lines. (I use the eraser too but just to clear big areas, not usually for detail work.)
1 - this is a modified basic round hard brush. the exact settings are here; the most important thing is to have shape dynamics -> size and transfer -> opacity + flow set to 0% and controlled by pen pressure. this is what I’ve been doing all of my painting with lately because it blends nicely. c:
(most of my inking these days is with a version of this brush, with the transfer/smoothing turned off for a more consistent opacity. otherwise it’s basically the same!)
2 - Kyle’s Animator Pencil, which…doesn’t seem to be available anymore unless you have a CC subscription? :( it was a free/pay-what-you-want brush so maybe it’s up somewhere else…if not I’ve gotten similar results from the first two brushes in kecky’s magical brush pack, although I prefer the feel of Kyle’s pencil.
I don’t really rely on different brushes as much as I used to – sometimes I use a special one if I’m going for something that needs really specific shapes or blending, but mostly it’s pretty basic!
#tutorial, #technically it’s also mlp and steamquestria because I felt like drawing twilight, #huwhoops
