Description

Been sitting on this and the other two pieces for a little while now, actually, as the content was time sensitive and I needed to wait until the video itself went live. This is 1 of 3 commissions for Obabscribbler for their project ‘A Point of No Return’, a reading of an MLP fanfic for domestic violence awareness.

Provide an example then of how Fluttershy is more assertive in a way that shows she’s capable of facing bullies better than Rainbow Dash. Simply saying she is more assertive now just because of what she did back in season 1 doesn’t prove anything. In season 1, she faced down a dragon. But in season 2, she was still scared to death by them.

P.S. ‘Wanderbolt’ is spelled ‘Wonderbolt’.

I didn’t say that. Fluttershy has become more assertive, Rainbow now is Wanderbolt. But Fluttershy is not Wanderbolt and Rainbow is not more assertive. Everyone have his own way.

Your opinion doesn’t automatically mean ‘fact’. Your opinion just stated that only Fluttershy has grown as a character and nopony else has. Do you realize the kind of insult that is?

By that logic, Rainbow would be capable of standing up to more intimidating bullies then. Possibly even a dragon.

(The episode where Fluttershy stands up to a dragon happens before the Sonic Rainboom. You would think Fluttershy would have no trouble standing up to bullies if she can stand up to a dragon. Turns out, Fluttershy’s capabilities of standing up to animals and standing up to bullies are very different.)

Remember the scene when Fluttershy defend Rainbow from bullies in “Sonic Rainboom” when RD just have nothing to say them. And it was just the first season.

That prospect kind of works both ways. To say that Fluttershy can’t defend her friends when they’re in need is an insult. But to say Rainbow Dash can’t defend herself from something Fluttershy can face is an even greater insult. The main way it works with Fluttershy is if she can calm down whatever is threatening them. (If it’s an animal, then the Stare is practically all she needs in everyone’s eyes.)

Fluttershy has been shown she can be pushed to defend her friends if needed, an example being the trip they all take to get the sleeping dragon to move and Fluttershy gets quite mad when the dragon is mean to her friends. In this picture, Fluttershy is protecting Rainbow Dash from someone who has abused Dash, so it makes sense she’d be acting a bit more fiercely and that Dash would be more timid or scared.
