Low magical abilities?? Technically after alicorns and Starlight, Trixie and Sunburst has better magic abilities than most unicorns.
She didn’t teach Trixie, though. She gave up halfway through, with no continuation whatsoever, judging with Trixie’s cameos in later episodes. Maybe in season 8-9, but I doubt it. Twilight Time also never was brought up again, so this won’t be also.
Interesting, its also interesting how two of her closest friends are unicorns with low magical abilities, if she can teach trixie to teleport things, maybe she can do the same witbh sunburst, basically it’ll be like when they were foals but the other way around
! Alright, you got me. That sounds pretty good.
We’re not at the end of the story yet. There could be a Season 8 episode where Starlight and Sunburst discover that they both learned to like kites after they separated as foals.
Its canon that Starlight’s feelings influence her magic. Don’t think about it too much but it is interesting if Sunburst would affect her magic abilities positively or negatively.
Well, she was so distracted and emotionally overwhelmed maybe she just lost concentration on it?
And perhaps, in the fight scene with Trixie, there’s a magic version of the flight or fight response where a unicorn gets an extra boost when their life is in danger.
What? The Crystalling was only the beginning. They barely interacted and their what little interaction they had, was built on lies that quickly crumbled away.
If the status of their relationship was finalized in the Crystalling I would be very disappointed. If you imply that, since The Crystalling made them “just friends” and thus they should stay that way forever, I will not accept it.
I feel like Starburst is the one couple that needs to go all the way. I want these two to earn their happy ending.

I dont know. I thought their relationship was resolved in the Crystalling episode. Who knew there was actually more baggage to be found.
I hope it’s romantic. They would make a bizarre couple and entertaining to watch. Startrix is fine: they poke fun at each other, Trixie being a douche. then Starlight rolls her eyes at her, you know the drill. They’re catty, and they got attitude.
Starburst, though…goddamn if this episode is any indication of how they’re relationship is going to look like, I want more of it. Especially when it’s taken you the next level.
So what do you thinks the problem with them? Also I don’t think I said this before yet but I kinda like how the writers still acknowledged one of Sunburst’s character trait is him being pretty oblivious when he’s caught up on something, I guess that’s something he needs to work on
It is a bit of an assumption to say the kite thing was dropped especially when compared to your other examples which for Trixie that is her practicing her magic or Maud who got her education in rock studies of course those things are their focus.
A more accurate comparison to Starlight and her kites is Applebloom and her enjoyment of mixing potions. Which while it took a while for that detail to come up again it was not dropped so chances are kites will return just the same.
Edited because: Responded to wrong post initially
Actually, I don’t know. I’ve never seen two characters neurotic for each other before. Especially for obscure reasons. If its a trope, I’m not familiar with it.
I doubt that, but judging by this episode and the LoM comics, we see starlight trying to spend some time with Sunburst but SB was always too busy for her, and in Uncommon Bond he seems very uninterested in her despite he’s in ponyville to see her, so if Sunburst is her character arc, then what would her conclusion be? Just to be with each other in either platonic or romantic way?
Its because it was the only thing about her. A tragic back story. That was it.
After Uncommon Bond, its clear that Sunburst is her character arc. Kind of like how RD wanted to get into the Wonder Bolts or how the CMCs wanted to earn their marks. I’m curious where it leads.
>throw it away
nice assuming. they introduced that detail during current season. can’t you just give it time or something? it’s not like liking kites is major part of her character, It just adds a little flesh on her character. and remember RSF? she wasn’t very opened about her interest on kites, she wouldn’t just casually fly a kite infront of Sunburst. that’d be inconsistent writing and episode lesson itself wouldn’t work, if they actually find a common like that. it’s just pointless nitpicking dude.
Edited
So how do you fix that? You compound on the details. You don’t introduce 1 detail and then throw it away. Look at Trixie and Maud. Trixie was still turning things into tea cups and randomly teleporting them. Maud was still living in the caves of Poniville. Where did Starlight’s kite flying thing go.
Imagine if Starlight started flying a kite and Sunburst is like “hey you fly kites?” and immediately gets impressed. They bond and play the bonding song for the fourth time. Its sweet but it would ruin the lesson, though. They weren’t supposed to find anything in common.
It would be refreshing to hear a pony say “Oh, I saw Starlight teaching Cheerilee’s student how to fly a kite” rather than the usual “you know she once nearly broke time, right?”
kites showed up in her room even far before RSF. so don’t be so sure about it fam.
Whatever, man. That kite thing or Dragon Pit is never gonna show up again. Although I’d laugh if Dragon Pit becomes an actual licensed MLP toy like a remake of Fireball Island.
That’s a completely different case though. Starlight’s kites thing = adds little details on character and connection Starswirl’s book = igniting major stroyline of the two-parters, which was essential. get it? they serve a completely different purpose. you’re comparing two different things.
