Maple Swirl is smart and educated, and got to achieve his dream career at a young age. He still studies magical theory and other scholarly topics as he runs The StarSwirl Cafe. Most ponies assume he named his cafe after Starswirl the Bearded. He neither denies or admits to that claim.
 
He doesn’t like conflict and disturbances. He loves his peace and quiet a bit too much, so noisy patrons are the bane of his existence. He sometimes wonders if he should have worked as a librarian instead.
 
He is quite an awkward nerd in situations outside of his place of comfort. He fantasizes going on romantic dates with his longtime crush. He has yet to confess to her, but he is afraid to ruin their friendship if he did that. He wonders if Astral feels the same way, but he has no idea…
