Description

The First of Many

Countless stares were tossed her way as she walked through Manehatten’s central park. From the train station to her hotel, then from there to this very place - the strongest slice of nature in this city. Many ponies stared, shocked and somewhat aghast, while others blushed and shyly turned away. Some would be easier targets for the future it seemed, once she had her plans in motion.

Down one of the many wooded paths of this park, taking the left along a fork in the road, she’d found herself alone… almost. A single pony sat a mere stone’s throw away up the path, and beneath the shade of a tree. Whoever they were, they had themselves engrossed muzzle deep within a book. The only defining feature she could make out was a blue windbreaker, and an auburn colored mane.

Seating herself upon the only bench she’d come across that was neither occupied or damaged in her walk, Dream Searcher gave herself a moment to relax. Sighing, she sunk back into the mix of steel and wood, crossing her legs as she leaned back and allowed the curve of the seat to catch her form. Smirking to herself, she scanned the wooded area before herself. This path, shrouded and providing large amounts of cover, seemed to be often tread by those who sought a moment of peace. Joggers likely made their rounds through here too.

Looking overhead to the canopy of leaves and branches, a few birdsongs met her ears as she took in this moment of reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Manehatten. She didn’t mind it, but it made her think about Ponyville and how quiet things were there. She was left alone, clients came, clients went, and some she’d slip a bit of suggestion to so that they would be hers. Life was good back there, but she had to set her sights on new horizons. She had to hatch a grander plan to control Equestria.

Looking back to the pony further up the path, she caught a glimpse of fallow colored features, as well as a stare tossed her way. The moment the pony realized she was caught, she dove back into her book, trying to look busy. Chuckling dryly, finding the stare of this one such pony, alone and looking to be studying to be a tad amusing, she kept the pony just out of the corner of her eye. Perhaps she might’ve found her first slave already.

Strange as it was for someone like her to be walking around, of what would be considered a walking fetish piece, she paid no mind to the stares. She had no time, nor the mind to deal with the aghast or those who gawked. What mattered to her though, was what she was going to do. Manehatten lacked the general security such as places like Ponyville or Canterlot.

The former of which had the wretched Elements of Harmony, and while she had her sights set on Twilight Sparkle, there was no way she’d be able to get close to her… not anymore at least. The latter, Canterlot, was something that gradually had to be chipped away at. She couldn’t march in there right away and proclaim herself Queen of this country, she had to slip ponies that were under her control in there one by one. She’d be easily overwhelmed and outnumbered, and would be seen as equally stupid at that.

Here… Manehatten was a good place to start. With everypony often so caught up in their own business, her efforts at building an army of slaves would go largely unopposed until it was too late. They’d pay her no mind, seeing her as a mere product of her talent; such niche services would get business every so often, enough to keep her afloat in this town where businesses only survived by being as cutthroat as they could. If she targeted the right ponies, and made them her own, she could have key pieces in play at positions of power…

For now though, things had to play a bit slowly. It wasn’t her way of doing things, but she couldn’t quite amass an army overnight to gain a strong foothold - if not outright control this city in the same day. Rising from her seat, outfit creaking, Dream having caught a few more glimpses of the mare looking her way, she made her way up the path to her. The mare, noticing the sound gradually approaching, dove back into her book.

Moving out of the pony’s peripheral, and into her blind spot, Dream had slowed down. Sparing a cautious glance up and down the path through the wooded area, the golden-yellow unicorn briefly attuned much of her focus to her hearing. Catching nothing in the way of noises, or indications of someone approaching, she smirked as knew she was in the clear. Birdsongs and insects would be her only company… they would bear witness to her claiming her first slave.

Reaching into her jacket’s pocket, fishing out the golden pocket watch she’d brought with her, she held the chain loosely, albeit close as she approached the unaware pony. Slipping around the tree and appearing beside the pony, she knelt down, dropping the watch until she held it by the end of the chain. With a bit of magic, her horn glowing an amber hue, she made the watch itself glow and become the focal point of the pony’s attention. Dangling before her eyes, Dream started to sway the watch, steady and slow.

“Focus on the watch,” she said sharply, and with a sultry whisper. “You want to focus on nothing more than its gentle sway…”
