Yeah I think it would have made far more sense for the Suppressive to require shooting down planes. I’ve not gotten my hands on the Perino yet, but I’m one of those RoF-obsessed lot, if it fires fast I want it.

I play on PC, so I’m not sure if that affects my ability to control the Parabellum’s recoil or not, but to me the recoil feels more like severe vibration in random directions than any real pattern, which I can understand is a pain to control often enough.

The thing is a beast of a gun though - I’m up to 232 kills so far, at 1 kpm. I’m far from a great player, but I feel like the thing is the one gun above all that I can absolutely shred people with. That RoF is just godly.

I feel ya man, I was so immensely salty by the time I finally shot down those two planes that I actually put the gun aside to play the next day with less latent rage. Got 176 kills on the Low Weight currently though, I love the hell outta it - which is why I decided to ask for it with this art

I can see why they made it where you have to shoot down to planes because it is an anti-air machine gun, but I wish they had those assignments for Suppressive variant instead of the Low Weight, it would have been much better like that IMO.

Though to be fair I don’t think the Parabellum MG14 is that great, the recoil is waaay to high for me, I personally feel like the Perino Model 1908 is a much better gun, though then again I haven’t used it as much as you so maybe if I use it more it’ll grow on me.

P.S. What system do you play Battlefield 1 on? I play it on PS4 though I have it for the PC as well but I can’t play the damn thing!

I’m not so sure it’s only America-centrist. Asside from the Sten, the allies didn’t produce a whole lot of submachineguns. The only commonly used one was the M3, and it didn’t gain traction until the early kinks had been worked out. The Tommygun was widely exported to the other allied nations, probably because it was already quite widespread by the time in some of its earlier incarnations. Though, more than that, it pops up in popular media in gangland settings even today, and beyond North American shores.

The drum mag made it to military usage in some cases yeah, but principally it was the stick mag. The gun here is modelled off the Parabellum MG14 aircraft machine gun. Tag confusion I guess.

God that gun is such a b***h to unlock in in the new “In the Name of the Tsar” DLC for Battlefield 1!

I assume it has to do with an American-centric point of view, which I can’t give people too much crap for as most are fed that point of view thier whole lives.

Unfortunately when most people see and WWII era (sub)machine gun with a drum mag they instantly think “Must be a Thompson!”. Too bad too because their is a host of great firearms developed in that time that shoot well even compared to modern guns.

I have to question: was the drum magazine Thompson ever even widely adopted anywhere? Seems to me only the clip magazine was used for the military. And it didn’t have a holed barrel.
