I really think that the changelings with horns on their foreheads are supposed to be male, while the changelings who do not, like the hippieling, are supposed to be female.

Maybe they decided not to have horns today.
There really doesn’t seem to be any discernible pattern; just however they’re distributed some do or don’t have wings, horns, and/or neck gems.
Changedlings are also based on flightless bugs?
It’s hard to tell since some keep their wings under their shell.

It’s wear but can they change their looks since they’re changelings and have wings and a tail? I don’t think they can run out like ponies with their magic when they’re changeling with will?
some also don’t have those tail things, and if you notice later on some of them don’t fly either
