If you turn off your internet settings and then restart the game in offline mode many ponies that normally are obtained from the premium balloon game change into normal bit payment ponies (trixie, whooves, etc.)… Though this was on iPod touch, don’t know if it works on all versions of the game…

Wait until you get to the unskippable storyling missions that require you to spend a total of 390 gems on a restaurant and a clocktower. Oh, and by the way, you need to complete the storyline to get Luna.
 
Also Rainbow Dash costs 500 fucking gems.
