what is that from?

Probably a good comparison, actually, considering how much time playing that game I ended up just hanging out in the Pocket D club. The community had their own radio station with in-game character hosts and everything. I will never forget you, Mancrush. (A hilariously over-muscled bear of a man in a pink thong who would literally hug his enemies into submission)
Tangenting back on topic, you could also customize your attack effects, so when you made your own Mistmane proxy, she could actually have the exact same shade of blue magic effects.

Still has the tutorial area and chat active. Interesting. I’m surprised nobody spun that off and started rebuilding yet.
That’s pretty darn amazing for 2004, really makes the modern day CCs with pre-set everythings you just build like lego-people cough soulcalibur cough gottenlazyyoubastards cough shameful in comparison. Especially noticeable with the post-2006 Korean entries, here’s your generic set of four options for every part, go nuts!
And you just look at that feeble pile like “Go nuts? With what?” Also funny is they never have current popular styles, western or anime, it’s like they’re all looking at fashion magazines in the library! The funniest one I saw was this one called Echo of Souls though, that because they had such wildly stylised helmets, seem to have figured nobody would give a damn about hairstyles. all the male hairstyles (dudes seem to always fare the worst) were short 1960s military/‘Ivy League’ cuts, no Fabios here boys! …And then the last option, an insanely out-of-place Saiyan-esque Cloud Strife spike.
that’s one reason I really dislike games with online components that are half&half, especially with fighting games or FPSes, the online-only players are content with just the core game, and no extra content, and devs have come to learn that, too, so they know they can get away with cheaping out on a lot of shit they used to put care and attention into!
Man. There are still copies of the character creation engine for that game out there somewhere, poke around through it some time, it’s utterly insane how amazing it was, especially for the time. As long as it was human shaped, you could make it.
I like trying to beat/break the system on f2p MMOs, sometimes I even manage to get to the top!
Then I get to sneer at everyone all superiour-like who took years and tons of micropayments to get there!
(like that online P2W scorched earth tank game, was in the top 15 until last year when I didn’t have enough time anymore.)
You sound like me whenever someone brings up City of Heroes, haha.
Hopefully only one more year until the City of Titans beta. At least Hiveswap will finally be coming out next month.
The battle DID end in a draw, though Lo Pan said “You never COULD beat me, Egg Shen.”
…Turns out that was a poor choice, because they accidentally their entire server and it didn’t survive the migration
My gawd those reward tiers are horrid, too. And no accounting for payments, sorry whales! It’s entirely time/level-based. (due to the whole… losing all records ever thing)
Basically they were too greedy and ‘going where the money is’ but the game was too old to function on Steam. Insert SF dyehair techs here attempting to port it and… Poof!
Aye, sucks I was working so much this year, or I would’ve rushed through to max out had I known about it.
Don’t think I’ve got the willpower to grind from level 1 again, especially not with all the gambling-esque-but-instant-gratification style ones running around. (you know the kind, some sort of random-pull roulette-esque setup. I play them til I reach the first set of pulls then drop it if I get only shite!) On a similar note, Metal Slug Attack is nice, but damn SNK got super-greedy. Pushing $100 direct-buy offers at you everywhere. For one unit, unupgraded, with literally nothing needed to upgrade it. At that price you’d think they give you a little help, but no.
Somehow it feels more satisfying to stay freemium because by the time you nail one of the premiums (added to the roulette the month after) you can throw it to 3-4 stars in an instant, and use it immediately. You buy it right out the gate, and you gotta waste a week just focus-grinding to justify that purchase/properly use it in the current event. (the premiums are advertised with ‘special operations’ that they get bonuses in if used, good luck though without being a billionaire and having all the upgrade bits)
So you’re essentially being hit 3 times, first buying it, then buying energy for grinding missions, then possibly needing to buy in-game money because levelups cost money too. Major ouch for the whales!
Best one I got so far is the little alien cosplayer girl of all things.
She looked kinda dumb at first, so I was just using her as a gag to troll some high leveled guy, but then, that special
She throws the beaker and it explodes into an acidic gas that doesn’t take resist into account.
What I thought was a joke character turned out to be a lethal armour-killer.
lvl1 Percier vs lvl10 Iron Nokana, 2 beakers = dead, and she’s so short the Nokana’s main cannon goes over her head!
It’s like playing Goldeneye with fukken Oddjob! You hear some little girl shouting “pew pew pew!” and are suddenly filled with dread that she’s been unleashed, rofl. It’s pretty telling when you see what was apparently a 2 year old character still used by level 70s who were there from launch.
Basically all of my other units exist to be meat-shields and pin the enemy down so she can rain acid death upon them.
Although, the game is heavily promoted in latin america so expect a language barrier with most everyone you meet, eesh.
I guess the audience they were aiming for must’ve been the KoF one.
cough xcuz me we now return you to your regularly scheduled Jojo-reffing (oh yeah, there’s one of those too, Alice.)
So was Rockhoof’s. WTF? Sudden super strength and growth hormones from digging!?
@D_Tavs.exe
Hell Yeah!
I used to play a Dark Knight myself.
The game is unrecognizable now. So much has changed, many new classes were put into the game in addition to the complete overhaul of existing classes. I’ve heard the 3rd job Dragon Knight class got completely changed. They removed ALL dragon themed skills, replaced with Gungnir themed moves, and were remaned Berserkers to fit into the 4th job Dark Knight theme.
Is that from maplestory? gosh I miss playing that.
Mistmane’s story felt the most like a legend to me.
But this is an exception. THIS MUST BE THE WORK OF AN ENEMY 「STAND」!
Yeah, it was the flesh of this episode.
I expected the Flash Magnus one to be more impactful, it was good, but fell flat in the end.
Mistmane’s story introduced new lore into the show canon.
Every time I see that scene, I half expect Lo Pan to say something like “I love my Nintendo!”
