Guys, this picture isn’t saying anything bad about the fandom. In fact it’s quite the opposite. It’s showing how stupid it is when people decide that this fandom is racist. Maybe if you paid attention to the whole thing without jumping to conclusions, you would REALIZE THAT YOU ARE SAYING EXACTLY WHAT THE PICTURE IS SAYING THEN DOWNVOTING IT.

Take these two statements, for example:

I prefer white Twilight= Racist pig!”
 
While I understand the sentiment, the reason why it elicits a more emotional response one way more than the other is because of a past history of overt social repression, most definitely that includes not having any person of the non-dominant race in a lead role. Then you have the few people that actually DO create works that have a minority lead (which I don’t think anyone is trying say is common), and they inevitably are punished for it. How does that not smack of the same social pressures used to debase people in the past? We’ll still be dealing the repercussions of institutionalized racism for a long time; being empathetic and sensitive go a long way to hurry up the healing.
 
I think part of the reason there are so many visceral reactions to humanized ponies as different races because we all project ourselves and our surroundings on to MLP. When someone suggests a version that is (in our eyes) fundamentally WRONG, it can feel like an attack. “That’s not MY Twiley, you’ve done it wrong, GO AWAY!!!”
 
 
Also, love the Rarity… except for the hairline. That’s WAY far back. Bleh.

Ok, I’ll put this out there:
 
Racism will not ever get better if we’re all always walking on eggshells. It will get better when we can celebrate diversity, while, at the same time, keeping a level head about cultural, regional, or societal pressure and conditioning.
 
I think at it’s core there is a definite tendency in the media, society, and even politics to use race as a weapon (either constantly playing the race card or driving home fears in the stupid racists of “the other) and it won’t die until we can all do our best to realize that the real threat to our society and well being is Gannon.

There is a difference between hue and lightness.

Racial diversity is what makes us all special.
 
Look at the country of Malaysia.
 
Theres Chinese, Indian, Malayan, Indonesian, British, American, and others (theres too much to name).
 
Besides, according to history, that country had to remove racism to recieve its independence.
 
How many places in the world has to do that?

All in all, all these race discussions has one shared trait among them.  
You cannot win.

What’s funny, too, is that ponies IRL with dark coats have dark skin, while ponies with light coats have light skin.
 
So Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, and possibly Rainbow Dash = White  
Twilight Sparkle = BLACK  
Pinkie Pie = I DUNNO LOL

Even if diversity is “forced,” is that necessarily a bad thing? I get enough looking at white people in real life.

The very reason I don’t like it when an artist bases the skin color of a humanized pony off of the voice, I know one that speaks Spanish so well you wouldn’t know he was born and raid in New York but thing he was from Mexico%(from the dialect he uses)%.

Race is a bit more than just the color of your skin.

Your skin color determines the sound of your voice? Wow, some racists are in denial.
