I'm ping-ponging several ideas around in my head. It's fun to play with readers' emotions and make them care about things they otherwise wouldn't care about.


 
Take this whole Downvote drama, for example.


 
If I just told you some people made really emotional pieces about a site feature getting removed - that just sounds crazy, and there's no way you'd feel sad over it. But have a cute character, years of familiarity, personify the feature, and then draw this >>1494429 and _*bam_*.


 
So Downvote doesn't even need to be a pony. In fact, I'd feel much more accomplished if I managed to make readers both confront deep, hard questions at the same time they feel invested in her if she's not a pony.
 
And making it a one-sided sort of subversive secret trial would make it too, well, one-sided, cheap and easy. The real fun is if you can make someone simultaneously feel sad about something but accept it.
 
There's a lot of neat stuff you can do - sadly, at this point, mostly stuff I've only thought about doing. So I just need to write and stop thinking about writing so much :q
