They’re probably claiming it improves focus among people with certain mental disabilities. That’s rather debatable, though, studies have cast doubt on it.

I’m tired of how omnipresent they are right now. For the past few months, whenever I search for Rubik’s cubes on eBay, most of the “related items” that eBay suggests are fidget spinners or fidget cubes.
The over-the-top hate they’re getting is quickly becoming more annoying, though.
I don’t hate fidget spinners either, I just find all the memes associated with them annoying. Pogs and Pokemon came out long before social media on the internet so they didn’t have that annoying “trendy” feel to them (IE, associated with people talking in hashtags and using emojis, etc.)
It doesn’t help that a lot of the memes associated with fidget spinners involve using “autism” as slur or insult.
Well I don’t think the spotlight in the media will last.
