Emotional support birb

They came about a week ago, while Starlight slept. They attached to her, and she did not notice them until she had looked at herself in the mirror the next morning. They were red and blue, not matching her coat color. They did not seem to speak, but they shared a telepathic bond with her. She could feel every move they made and everything that touched them as if they were her own limbs. They were adorable little things, always looking for affection. She had soon learned from Twilight (after a brief freakout) that they were feeding on nutrients from her blood, which unsettled her… until she discovered that she was able to fly with them. She could move them like her own limbs, or rather, perhaps, they simply willingly obeyed every command from her brain. They never made demands of her, content to simply share in the nutrients from her meals and provide for her a functional benefit in return. Starlight grew fond of them, and within a month, she couldn’t imagine life without them. Good thing, too, because the seams between the creatures and her flesh had long since vanished…
